Location of Casualty North of Paignton Pier

Service ILB launched following a report of a person walking into the sea at Paignton

following a dispute. The individual was recovered without ILB assistance but

was taken to hospital for a check up.

Location of Casualty St Mary's Bay

Service Launched following a report of a red flare observed over St Mary's Bay. ILB

tasked to check the area. Coastguard team observed a yacht at anchor who

subsequently indicated by radio that Chinese Laterns had been observed

earlier. Search revealed no one in trouble. Search terminated.

Service Launched to investigate report of a cliff climber possibly in difficulty to the

South side of Berry Head. Detailed search of the area including the sea caves

revealed no one in difficulty. Search stood down.

Location of Casualty Imperial Hotel

Service Launched to assist in recovery of a cliff faller in the viciity of the Imperial

Hotel, Torquay. Casualty treated by paramedics and transferred to the ILB then

the ALB to be carried to an awaiting ambulance at Torquay Harbour.

Location of Casualty Crystal Cove

Service Launched to assist a number of children who got into difficulty on the waters

edge of the cliffs at Crystal Cove near Broadsands. Jet ski on scene also

assisted. Children returned to the local beaches.

Location of Casualty Between Thatcher and Flat Rock

Service Launched to a dive boat suffering engine failure with a diver still out. Diver

recovered by another vessel and returned to the dive boat. ILB returned the

dive boat under tow to Paignton Harbour.

Location of Casualty Off Shoalstone

Service The Inshore Lifeboat was launched to search for a diver reportedly waving and

blowing a whistle before going below the surface. Person thought to be in

difficulty. Eventually a solo diver was located and confirmed he had blown the

whistle. Checked he was all OK and confirmed identification. ALB about to

launch to assist in search but stood down.

Additional Notes Many divers in the vicinity were asked but none had any information.

Location of Casualty Found to the South of Mansands

Service Extensive shoreline search from Berry Head to Scabbacombe and beyond to

search for a missing person. Dartmouth ILB checking from Greenway to

Scabbacombe. Missing person located on the coast path to the south of

Mansands towards Scabbacombe. Recovered to an awaiting ambulance.

Service Members of the public reported two adults and four children caught by the

rising tide at Corbyn Head. The ILB and HM Coast Response Team tasked but

on arrival no one was found to be in difficulty. Tasking terminated.

Service Launched following report by a member of the public that an inflatable with

three on board was being carried off shore by the wind and required

assistance. Inflatable assisted ashore and safety advice given.

Location of Casualty 0.5 miles off Preston Beach

Service Pleasure boat Island Princess observed and recovered a person in the water

half a mile off shore at Preston. A second person was also located. ILB tasked

to the scene. It appears two persons had been thrown off their JetSki some

ninety minutes earlier. Both casualties were taken to hospital following the

extended period in the sea.

Additional Notes The casualties were observed by a wind surfer who made it to shore and

raised a 999 call on a borrowed mobile around the same time as Island

Princess found them..
