Service The motor vessel 'Shmoo' with five on board reported engine problems and taking water into

engine space. Anchor dropped. ALB tasked to their assistance. Vessel pumped out and then

taken under tow to Torquay Marina - alongside at 01:55 hrs.

Service The vessel 'Spirited Away' with a fouled prop and at risk of running aground on Berry Head put out

a Pan Pan call. ALB diverted from exercise to their assistance and returned then under tow

to Brixham. Marina workboat took over the tow inside the harbour.

Location of 0.5 mile N of Brixham Breakwater

Service The cutter De Velde on approaching Brixham suffered engine failure and with a force 4 NW

wind was in danger of being blown onto the Breakwater. ALB tasked and towed her into

Brixham Harbour events pontoon.

together with engine failure approximately 20 miles east of Berry Head.. ALB tasked to her

Service A 6 metre boat was reported to be going aground on the 'Lead Stone' (Hopes Nose). ALB

Service See ILB Shout 34. ALB tasked to assist ILB with a sinking speed boat and make the

casualties safe. All casualties taken aboard the ALB and Salvage pump used to prevent

vessel sinking. Speed boat returned under tow to Torquay Harbour

Location of St Mary's Bay

Service Following numerous reports of two or three Red Flares the ALB together with Dart Lifeboat

were launched to search the coastline between St Mary's Bay and Scabbacombe. Later

information suggested the flares may have been within Torbay. Search modified - nothing found.

Service Launched to a cabin cruiser with a crew member suffering from a dislocated hip. Lifeboat

Crew transferred to vessel with pain relief - casualty moved to Paignton Harbour and an

awaiting ambulance.

Location of Between Berry Head and Exmouth

Service Brixham and Portland Coast Guards received the spoken word May Day. Direction Finding

placed this on a bearing from Berry Head to Straight Point near Exmouth. Torbay and

Exmouth lifeboats tasked to 'search the line' Rescue Helo 106 also tasked. Nothing found.

Service Launched to assist speedboat taking water. Speed boat being assisted by a local pleasure

boat. ALB took under tow and provided assistance with the salvage pump. The vessel was

returned to Torquay Harbour and recovered to her trailer.

Service On return from the previous shout the ALB was diverted to assist the 20 metre yacht 'Ocean

Planet' into Brixham Harbour and a deep water mooring due to her draught. Ocean Planet

suffered engine failure earlier in the evening whilst making passage for Brixham.

Location of 24 miles East of Berry Head

Service Launched to the single handed 32ft yacht 'Seraph' with her anchor chain wrapped around

the sail drive and unable to manoeuvre. Assistance given to free anchor - vessel proceeded

on her way without further assistance. ALB returned to assist another casualty.

Additional Anchor warp and chain brought in by the lifeboat. 'Seraph' eventually made Brixham in the

early hours of Wednesday.

Service Launched to the vessel 'Molly Jane' with a fouled propeller. ALB crew managed to free the

propeller and she was able to make her on way.

Service Both lifeboats launched to assist in search for a high risk missing person. Search started

around Berry Head but subsequent information drew the search back to Goodrington. Missing

person located by ALB and picked up by the ILB as she entered the water. A job well done.

Location of Between Hopes Nose and Black Head

Service AWB tasked to report of a person in the water with an open fracture near Hopes Nose. The

severely injured person was recovered to the lifeboat and transferred to Haldon Pier, Torquay

and an awaiting ambulance. All vessel movements in the area were restricted to avoid any

wash during recovery. Second person also taken to hospital after long emersion time.

Location of 6 miles NNE of Berry Head

Service Tonight was the Lifeboat Week BYC/RNLI Yacht race. The AWB was at sea when a vessel

indicated they were becalmed and gave a position. This position did not tally in any way

with the CG DF equipment and the AWB was diverted to locate the vessel. Found safe but

returned under tow to Torquay Harbour.

Location of 3 miles East of Berry Head

Service All Weather Lifeboat launched to the sailing vessel 'Golden Vanity' following a medical

recommendation that a crew member suffering from an apparent Asthma attack should be

evacuated. Lifeboat paramedic put aboard 'Golden Vanity' during remainder of passage to

Brixham. Casualty taken to Torbay Hospital for a check up.
