Location of Casualty Eastern Blackstone towards River Dart entrance

Service Launched to the assistance of a passenger fishing vessel broken down with five passengers on

board. A short while into the launch the vessel managed to make way into the safety of the River Dart

- ALB stood down at 15:32

Location of Casualty St Marys Bay

Service The vessel 'MissPrint' anchored somewhere off the coastline thought to be in the vicinity of the Cod

Rocks as fog descended and they became disoriented. Located by radar at 14:33hrs and taken in

tow to Brixham.

Additional Notes A hazy morning turned rapidly to fog shortly after lunchtime - visibility at sea level 20 metres

Location of Casualty River Dart Entrance

Service Report of three young people aground in the entrance to the River Dart between Kingswear Castle

and One Gun Point. Initial reports indicate the boat is holed but occupants safe ashore the only

access to them being by water.

Additional Notes Recovered by 'Y' Boat and transferred to Dart Harbour staff

Location of Casualty Rocks at Eastern end of Meadfoot Beach

Service Launched following a request from Devon & Cornwall Constabulary to recover an apparent body on

rocks near the Kilmorie Flats, Torquay. ILB launched for the task with AWB in escort role. Shortly

after launch the object was identified as a large lump of fishing net. AWB and ILB released and

returned to station.

Additional Notes With fairly strong easterly winds the AWB was tasked in an escort role to the ILB.

Location of Casualty River Dart Higher Car Ferry

Service During extremely severe NW squalls the floating bridge Higher Ferry at Dartmouth broke free from

her guiding cables and drifted down the River Dart. She had almost a full load of cars with some 42

passengers. Local craft and Torbay lifeboat all tasked. The ferry, with assistance from the Harbour

authority, managed to pick up a buoy amongst the moorings on the Kingswear side of the river

preventing further drift. The lifeboat stood by and transferred approximately half of the passengers to

shore. Work is in hand to recover the cars aboard using the tug operated lower car ferry.

Additional Notes All passengers taken to the Dart Marina Hotel whilst their cars are recovered.

Location of Casualty 2 miles East of Berry Head

Service The oil tanker 'Overseas Josefa Camejo' reported an incident requiring medical assistance. AWB launched

with Paramedics aboard. Subsequently AWB involved with Helo 169 in search for a possible man

overboard. This incident subject to Police investigations. See Press Reports for details

Location of Casualty Possibly River Dart/Mewstone.

Service Report received from a member of the public by HM Coastguard of two red flares observed near the River

Dart entrance. AWB and Coastguard shore teams tasked. Third red flare reported. No vessel located

anywhere near the River Dart or Mewstone. Lifeboat stood down when source identified.

Additional Notes Shore teams located a large tractor and trailer combination with very powerful rear red lights working in

fields consistent with the sighting
