Location of 1 mile East of Mansands

Service ALB launched to an angling vessel with engine failure. This was following unsuccessful

attempts via Pan Pan broadcasts for other vessels to give assistance..

Additional Vessel had no VHF radio or means of establishing her location. Second vessel off

Babacombe in similar situation - Teignmouth attended.

Location of Imperial Hotel

Service Launched to assist in recovery of a cliff faller in the vicinity of the Imperial Hotel, Torquay.

Casualty treated by paramedics and transferred to the ILB then the ALB to be carried to an

awaiting ambulance at Torquay Harbour.

Service Launched to the Motor Sailor 'Sun Rover' in difficulty making Torbay after a long passage

with engine problems and crew exhaustion. Motor Sailor towed to Brixham all OK

Additional Yacht on passage from Southampton to Brixham. Engine problems occurred over night.

Service The vessel 'Rattus' suffered a dual engine failure and requested assistance. ALB launched to

their assistance and returned them under tow to Brixham

Location of Outside Torquay Harbour

Service Yacht 'Avocette' raised a May Day call reporting a fire a short distance from Torquay

Harbour. Other vessels responded and fire turned out to be steam from a burst pipe. ALB

launch stood down as vessel in tow back to harbour and no one at further risk.

Service The Inshore Lifeboat already launched to search for a diver reportedly waving and blowing a

whistle before going below the surface. Person thought to be in difficulty and not located.

ALB tasked but person - a solo diver - located and OK before ALB launched to assist in

Service The 24ft yacht 'Runaway' became becalmed and suffered engine failure in poor visibility

within the fishing grounds mid channel. She raised a 'May Day'. Fishing vessel 'Vandyke'

stood by until the lifeboat arrived on scene. The yacht was returned under tow to Brixham

Service Launched following report of a red flare sighting thought to be in the vicinity of St Mary's

Bay and Longsands. (South of Mansands) Pan Pan raised. Extensive search along the

coastline carried out. Nothing found at sea and ALB released.

Additional Search eventually extended to Froward Point (River Dart entrance)

Location of Long Quarry, Babbacombe

Service A group of 'coasteerers' became isolated and following some injuries one member made it to

safe ground and requested assistance. ALB and Cliff teams sent to their assistance. In view

of their location the 'Y' boat was deployed. All were guided safely back to the beach area

and an awaiting ambulance crew. Minor injuries only sustained.

Additional Helo Rescue 106 also deployed.

Service Following an unsuccessful Pan Pan broadcast on behalf of the fishing vessel 'Full Monty'

which had engine failure the ALB was tasked to her assistance. The vessel had three persons

on board. She was returned under tow to Brixham.

Service The yacht 'Cabaret' suffered engine room flooding and requested assistance. The ALB was

launched and after establishing the ingress was not too serious returned her under tow to

Brixham. Other vessels also attended. The water ingress was occurring around the stern

gland. Haul out probably required to fix.
