Service Launched to support the ILB search to the South side of Berry Head due to weather conditions.

Location of Casualty 1 mile SE of Froward Point

Service Launched to a 10 metre Motor Yacht suffering engine failure close to the River Dart entrance. Dart

Lifeboat previously launched to her however the casualty vessel size required the ALB assistance to

tow the Motor Yacht to Dartmouth.

Location of Casualty Within Torbay

Service The ALB additionally joined the ILB search around 10:00 as well as Rescue Helicopter 106. The

search area was extended from Broadsands to Corbyn Head. At approx. 11:00 Helo Rescue 106

observed a casualty in the sea near Meadfoot Beach. Both lifeboats diverted to attend but before

recovery could occur the casualty disappeared from view. An extensive search followed.

Additional Notes Police dive teams are expected to attend shortly.

Service Launched to the 10.5 metre fishing vessel 'Val Halla' suffering engine failure. Vessel returned under

tow to Brixham Harbour.

Location of Casualty Broadsands

Service Launched following a report of possibly two people in difficulty swimming off Broadsands Beach (in

heavy Easterly Swell). Both casualties made it ashore as the lifeboat arrived and were confirmed to

be OK. ALB released to return to station.

Location of Casualty Towards the middle of Tor Bay

Service Lifeboat launched following an observation by the NCI of an apparent RIB or similar falling from the

stern of a fishing vessel and immediately sinking. The lifeboat searched the area and confirmed

there was no sign of any casualties.

Additional Notes A fishing vessel returning to Brixham subsequently confirmed that a large piece of fibreglass had

fallen overboard from the stern of their vessel.

Location of Casualty Hopes Nose

Service Launched to the fishing vessel 'Progress' that had run aground to the south side of Hopes Nose.

Lifeboat crew member put aboard via the 'Y' boat to assist. Vessel judged intact and gently towed off

the rocks seaward to check for any damage. Vessel returned under tow to Brixham.

Additional Notes Fishing vessels 'Spirit' and 'Sue Ellen' stood by and assisted. 'Y' Boat deployed

Service Crew assembled to go to the assistance of 'Kerrie Marie' with engine problems. Vessel made it

safely back into Brixham Harbour - launch cancelled.

Location of Casualty Possibly Beacon Cove

Service Both lifeboats launched following a report of a person entering the water at Beacon Cove. Both

lifeboats searched the area and coastline in the vicinity of Beacon Cove, Torquay Harbour and

Corbyn Head. Search was extensive and stood down shortly after 10:00 hrs.

Additional Notes HM Coastguard, Police & Rescue Helicopter 924 joined the shoreline search

Coxswain Mark Criddle Mechanic Will Bower

Location of Casualty Start Bay

Service Salcombe All Weather Lifeboat went to the assistance of fishing vessel 'Lady Lou' having suffered a

gearbox failure and losing all drive. The near SE gale conditions and the vessel size required the

Torbay ALB to assist and she took over the tow returning the 'Lady Lou' to Brixham. Additional

assistance was given by the Pilot Boat to enter Brixham Harbour to ensure Lady Lou could be

manouvered safely to a mooring position with heavy swells and strong SE winds

Additional Notes A rock and roll trip in both directions - very uncomfortable.
