Location of St Mary's Bay

Service Diverted from exercise to investigate object reported by a member of the public in the

vicinity of St Mary's Bay. Floating log found by the 'Y' boat and left to wash onto the beach.

Exercise resumed.

Service Both lifeboats tasked to carry out a shoreline search for a reported missing person. Casualty

located on shore and checked out by ambulance crew - search terminated.

Additional HM Coastguard Teams and the Police Helicopter also involved.

Location of Paignton Pier

Service Both lifeboats tasked to the 21ft fishing vessel 'Nimo' that suffered a fouled propeller in her

fishing nets then drifted into Paignton Pier. In the process the vessel's radio aerial was

broken off on the Pier Structure and red flares used to raise the alarm. The flares were

observed by a local boatman who contacted the Coastguard. The ILB and ALB launched

and recovered the owner before taking the 'Nimo' in tow. She was well flooded and capsized

but remained afloat. 'Nimo' taken at very slow speed to Torquay Harbour and moored.

Service After returning the yacht to Brixham Harbour the Relief ALB was tasked to investigate tents

within Seven Quarry, Fishcombe following a request from Devon & Cornwall Police. The 'Y

Boat' was launched to put crew ashore to investigate the tents before returning to station.

Service Tasked to the 40 ft Yacht 'Ntombifuti' with engine failure on her approach to Brixham. The

Relief ALB 'Osier' returned her under tow to the Events Pontoon within Brixham Harbour.

Thu 11 Oct - Relief Lifeboat RNLI 17-34 'Oseir' on service at Torbay whilst RNLI 17-28 'Alec and Christina Dykes' is away at Poole for some well deserved maintenance.

Location of River Dart - Off Dart Haven Marina

Service All Weather lifeboat tasked to assist Dart Lifeboat and the 45ft Yacht 'Sea Brigand' in

difficulty within Dart Harbour during very strong wind conditions. The sails of the single

handed yacht at anchor where unfurling and putting the single crewman at considerable risk.

Lifeboat crews assisted and the yacht was taken from her point of anchor to the visitors pontoon.

Additional Wind and sea conditions limited the ALB speed to 15 knots - winds were building at the

time to over 60 knots

Location of 100 metres off Meadfoot Beach

Service Tasked following numerous reports of a windsurfer in difficulty. Two other vessels attended.

Windsurfer recovered to the ALB and transferred to Torquay Harbour where he was met by

HM Coastguards and an Ambulance.
