Service Following an unsuccessful PanPan broadcast on behalf of the Catamaran SP02 that was

drifting following a gearbox faillure the ALB was tasked to their assistance. Returned under

tow to Brixham Harbour and placed alongside the Events Pontoon.

Service The Fishing Vessel 'San Pierre' suffered a fouled propeller and lost the ability to manoeuvre.

PanPan issued by HMCoastguard calling for assistance but no vessel responded. ALB tasked

and returned her under tow to Brixham Harbour.

Location of Brixham Breakwater

Service HM Coastguard received a report from a member of the public on the Breakwater that a

young person was observed walking down the Breakwater but was no longer in view. Search

initiated around the Breakwater and then towards Roundham and back to Brixham. No one

located - search stood down

Location of Daddy Hole Cove (Meadfoot area)

Service Tasked following report of a kite surfer in difficulty in the Meadfoot area - subsequently taken

by the sea conditions towards Daddy Hole Cove. Coastguard team reported difficult sea

conditions and 'Y' boat deployed to assist kite surfer now at the base of the cliffs at Daddy

Hole plain. One crewman put ashore to assess casualty and await arrival of Helo Rescue 106

from Portland. Casualty extracted by Helicopter to an awaiting Ambulance on Daddy Hole

Plain. Helicopter then recovered crewman from the foot of the cliffs and returned him to the

Service Fishing vessel 'Rising Dawn' suffered engine failure fairly close to Berry Head. PanPan raised

and several vessels responded. 'Two Brothers' towed the casualty clear of Berry Head to

create sea room. ALB tasked to them and returned them under tow to Brixham Harbour.

Service Tasked to join a search for a missing person possibly in the area between Hopes Nose and

Petitor. Search extended to cover shoreline to Torquay Harbour. Search stood down at 14:07

following location of the missing person.

Additional Teignmouth Lifeboat also joined the search between Petitor and Hopes Nose.

Location of Princess Pier, Torquay

Service Launched following report of a person in the water off Princess Pier, Torquay. Weather

conditions extreme with poor sea conditions in the vicinity and wind gusting at 52 knots.

Person recovered from the sea and transferred at high speed to an awaiting ambulance at

Torquay Harbour. Casualty recovered from the sea by Crewman Ryan Bradfield - see press release

Location of Last seen between Thatcher Rock & Meadfoot

Service A 19ft fishing vessel with one person on board failed to return to Torquay Harbour after a day

fishing. The vessel was last observed between Thatcher Rock and the Meadfoot area. ALB

tasked to the area together with Portland Helo Rescue 106. As the evening progressed other

SAR assets joined the search in strong/gale force winds. RNAS Culdrose Rescue Helo 193

replaced Portland.

Torbay ALB lead the search patterns at sea and Coastguard teams searched the shorelines

together with Torbay ILB. Torbay, Exmouth and Teignmouth lifeboats carried out a final

search in parallel and Exmouth located a target. The search was terminated shortly before

midnight and all units returned to station.

Additional Other SAR Assets - Teignmouth and Exmouth lifeboats, Torbay ILB, Tug Vitus, HMS St

Albans and Rescue Helo 193
Post Shout The three RNLI lifeboats were each directly involved in locating and recovery of the fisherman.
  Exmouth located him, Teignmouth recovered him and Torbay brought him to Brixham.

Location of 37 miles SSE of Berry Head

Service The 32 metre fishing vessel 'Danielle' raised a PanPan earlier in the evening reporting that

she was taking water and requested assistance. Portland Rescue 106 provided a salvage

pump and Salcombe ALB attended escorting her towards Start Bay. Torbay ALB was

launched later to take over the escort from Start Bay to Brixham.

Service The Tug 'Christos XXII' called MayDay after the vessel was holed by the vessel it was towing

resulting in serious flooding to the engine room. ALB tasked and salvage pumps put aboard.

Two lifeboat crew assessed the damage. Before additional salvage pumps were placed on

board all power was lost and six non essential crew evacuated to the ALB. Naval damage control

personnel joined. At 23:43 - all personnel were withdrawn from the closed spaces of

'ChristosXXII' and the pumps left running. Tug 'Brent' out of Weymouth provided additional

pumping which stabilised the situation around 02:00hrs. At 02:15 the ALB was released to

return to station leaving the Brent and Warships in position. The six crew were brought ashore

at Brixham whilst the Captain & Chief Engineer remained with the tug 'Brent'. The casualty

vessel remains in position at this time.

Additional Additional resources joining the task were HMS Severn, HMS Lancaster, Exmouth Lifeboat,

Rescue Helicopter 169 and MTS Falcon. The tug 'Brent' joined on scene around 01:20 hrs

Service Both Lifeboats tasked to report of a person in the water at Goodrington to join a Police and

Torbay Coastguard search. ALB searched between Saltern Cove and Paignton. Para-

illuminants launched in the vicinity. Person subsequently located safe on shore. Search

terminated at 05:20 hrs
