Location of Casualty River Dart entrance

Service Launched following a PanPan raised for a 54ft fishing vessel in the River Dart entrance taking water

and making slow progress into the river. Dart Lifeboat salvage pump in use and another vessel also

assisted. The ALB assisted the vessel to a mid river pontoon and ensured all was under control

before returning to station.

Location of Casualty Hopes Nose

Service A 'MayDay' call was reported to HM Coastguard indicating a yacht with four people on board was

sinking in the Hopes Nose Area. The 'MayDay' call was heard on a maritime radio channel not

normally used for that purpose. Both Torbay Lifeboats were launched to carry out extensive

searches up to 10 miles off Hopes Nose and in the probable direction of the radio call. The ALB was

tasked on various search patterns taking her up to ten miles off shore and she was joined by HMS

Tyne and Rescue Helicopter 106 in the extensive sea area search until fading light brought the

search to an end. No sightings of any vessel or wreckage was made and search assets were

released from around 21:00 as search patterns were completed.

Additional Notes HMS Tyne and Rescue Helicopter 106. The Belgium Navy vessel 'Lobelia' and Commando Spirit

joined the early search but were released once the lifeboat assets were on scene.

Location of Casualty Elberry Cove

Service Launched to an injured water skier with a significant hip injury at Elberry Cove. The ILB transferred

additional resources required to stabilise the casualty who was eventually lifted by Devon Air

Ambulance to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

Additional Notes HM Coastguard on scene also. 'Y' Boat used to access the beach.

Service Launched to check an area where an inflatable kayak with oars but unoccupied was found by a local

fishing vessel. Sea area to the SW and NE checked before returning to station.

Location of Casualty St Mary's Bay

Service Both Torbay lifeboats launched to carry out a medical evacuation of an injured person from St Mary's

Bay beach. The ILB transferred the casualty and family member together with a paramedic to the

ALB. The casualty was then transferred to Torquay Harbour and an awaiting ambulance for transfer

to Torbay Hospital

Location of Casualty Elberry Cove

Service ALB tasked, following the previous incident, to assist in the evacuation of a person at Elberry Cove.

The ALB initially provided light to the casualty position to assist paramedics and HM Coastguard.

The casualty and two paramedics were subsequently transferred to the ALB and then to Torquay

Harbour for onward transfer to Torbay Hospital.

Service Launched to the fishing vessel 'Pedar Marie' apparently with a fire onboard. Fire Brigade and HM

Coast Guard also in attendance. On arrival of the ALB the situation was under control. The ALB was

then diverted to Elberry Cove - see shout 20

Location of Casualty Possibly Berry Head area

Service Tasked to join a search for a missing person possibly in the Berry Head area. ALB searched from

Berry Head to Scabbacombe and then carried out a 'creeping line ahead' search to the NNE of Berry

Head. No one located from seaward. ALB released to return to station at approximately 16:00. The

search continued on land.

Additional Notes Police and HM Coastguard together with Rescue Helicopter 106 all involved in the search.

Service Following the collision attended by the ILB (Shout 21) the ALB launched in support to give

assistance and check vessel damage. The second vessel was checked and escorted back to

harbour.

Location of Casualty 8 miles East of Berry Head

Service Tasked to investigate and recover a 2.6 metre inflatable 'tender' with oars but no one aboard. This

was reported by a passing vessel. The tender was located and recovered. On approach to Brixham

the yacht 'Moon Shadow' was observed and they confirmed the tender previously reported as lost

was theirs. The tender was handed to them.

Location of Casualty Off Seven Quarries

Service The casualty vessel raised a MayDay following water ingress. The ALB was tasked and the

'Brixham Express' on passage to Brixham took the casualty under tow to Brixham Harbour. The

water ingress apparently ceased when the engine was stopped. The ALB proceeded and checked all

was under control before returning to station.

Location of Casualty 0.7 miles East of Paignton Pier

Service Launched to an apparently broken down speed boat reported to be approximately 0.7 miles off

Paignton Pier. As the ALB left Brixham Harbour the casualty vessel managed to restart her engines

and made way to Brixham Harbour. The ALB shadowed them to safety before returning to station.

Service Tasked to a vessel taking water. The vessel was able to make way and the ALB escorted her to the

safety of Brixham Harbour. The ALB had her salvage pump prepared and ready to transfer should

the situation become any worse. The casualty vessel was checked over before the ALB returned to

station.

Service Tasked to a vessel fouled by fishing gear without power and drifting close to Berry Head. Other

vessels in the area went to their assistance and esatblished an emergency tow to keep her from the

rocks prior to the arrival of the All Weather Lifeboat. ALB towed the vessel to Brixham Harbour.

Service The fishing vessel 'Ruby Tuesday' with two people on board raised a 'PanPan' following engine

failure. The All Weather Lifeboat was tasked to her assistance and returned her under tow to

Brixham arriving shortly before 21:00hrs.

Service Tasked to a 19 ft Bay Liner with four people on board apparently drifting towards Thatcher Rock

having suffered engine failure. A JetSki in the vicinity took the vessel in tow pending arrival of the

lifeboat. Casualty vessel taken in tow by the ALB to Torquay Harbour before returning to station.

Location of Casualty Reported as 3 miles South of Berry Head

Service Launched to the yacht 'Sister Moon' reportedly unable to make progress and giving a position as 3

miles South of Berry Head. After a detailed search the vessel could not be located - eventually the

vessel was reported to be in the Start Point area. Salcombe lifeboat was then tasked and Torbay

Lifeboat released to return to station shortly before 19:00..

Additional Notes To establish her position the casualty vessel was requested to launch a 'Red Flare' She was actually

12 miles SSW of Berry Head.

Service The ALB was tasked to the sailing vessel 'Magic Mood' that had raised a 'PanPan' call having

suffered a main sail problem and engine failure. She was unable to make reasonable

headway. ALB once on scene put a crewman aboard and returned the vessel under tow to Brixham

arriving shortly before 17:00.
